ENGIE awarded £200m TFM contract by Wakefield Council
ENGIE has been awarded a Total Facilities & Property Management contract by Wakefield Council for a period of 10 years.
The contract will deliver a minimum saving of £10m over the life of the partnership through the modernisation of services, the implementation of energy reduction initiatives and by improved management of the Council’s property portfolio.
Encompassing a wide range of facilities and energy management services* across 500 council buildings and more than 100 schools, the new partnership will see 800 staff transferring from the council under TUPE regulations. ENGIE has also committed to creating 130 apprenticeships and 500 days of work experience, as well as setting up a social enterprise and ensuring that 60% of procurement is with local SME companies. In parallel, ENGIE will be developing strong links with Wakefield College and with Nova Wakefield, the support agency for voluntary and community groups in the Wakefield area.
Cllr David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, commented: “This new partnership will enable staff, customers and services to benefit from private sector expertise and investment, with £1.5m investment in staff training already guaranteed by ENGIE.
“It will also bring improvement, sustainability, and growth for these services, protection for jobs and new opportunities for staff, while helping the Council to make significant savings,” he continued.
