Infrastructure & Generation
ENGIE is one of the UK’s largest power producers and leaders in the energy transition with expertise in distributed, renewable and low carbon energy technologies.
Power generation in the UK and Ireland
ENGIE in the UK is a key electricity generator with a merchant generation fleet of 15 operational assets with a total capacity of 4,030 MW. Four of the power plants (and the closed Rugeley coal plant) and the trading operation are 75% owned by ENGIE and 25% by partners in joint ventures.
A wind and solar generation portfolio is being actively developed in the UK and Ireland. In addition to the eight operational wind farms and one operational solar park, ENGIE has a pipeline of wind and solar projects at various stages of development. Furthermore, ENGIE has a 23.3% stake in the Moray East offshore wind farm, which has been awarded a 15 year Contract for Difference (CfD) and is due to become operational in 2022.
ENGIE also has a trading business which trades UK power, UK gas and EU carbon to manage the commodity price exposures associated with its generation assets and retail market position.
