ENGIE launches complete electric vehicle charging solution for UK homes
ENGIE, one of the largest companies to enter the domestic energy market for more than 15 years, has today announced a major step into the UK electric vehicle (EV) sector as it introduces an end-to-end charging solution for EV drivers.
The company, which has already delivered 50,000 charge point units around the world, has unveiled a new green electricity tariff which will offer 100% renewable electricity and free driving miles exclusively to EV drivers alongside the launch of its own fully-installed EV home charging points.
Today’s announcement demonstrates ENGIE’s commitment to developing environmentally-friendly technologies and encouraging clean driving to help improve the quality of air in British cities.
The company will provide and fully install its home charge points as well as offering warranty, servicing and a green electricity tariff.
The new green EV Home tariff – which offers up to 500 free driving miles* via an introductory credit to customers’ home energy bill – can be taken alone or with a reduced cost EV charging unit.
Wilfrid Petrie, CEO of ENGIE in the UK & Ireland, said: “It’s imperative that we all play our role in protecting the environment – we take this responsibility very seriously at ENGIE, it’s at the heart of everything we do, and we also recognise that simplicity is key to helping people switch to green ways of living.
“We are offering our customers a convenient, end-to-end charging solution for complete peace of mind. We will deliver ENGIE charge points, and provide our own specialist installation, servicing and warranty, backed with a 100 per cent renewable electricity tariff and free driving miles.
“We are keen to not only be a part of the EV revolution but also to make it easy for people to lead a greener life. With more and more EVs entering the market, we believe our end-to-end charge point and tariff solution will help more people to switch to EV.”
Customers can purchase an ENGIE home charge point alone for £249 or with the ENGIE EV Home tariff for £179. The charging points and Home tariff are available direct from home.engie.co.uk.
To support the UK’s transition to electric vehicles, ENGIE is partnering with Clean Air Day on 21st June 2018 to enhance public understanding and promote action on air pollution. Find out more at www.cleanairday.org.uk.
