Modern care facility provides new option for Rochdale residents
Leading energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE has recently completed work on a modern Extra Care scheme, giving Rochdale residents a new care option.
The £5.7million scheme, known as; River Beal, built on behalf of Partners Foundation, features 37 apartments built using a Modern Method of Construction, known as SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) which are then wrapped with traditional building materials.
The apartments, built with the needs of prospective residents as a top priority, allow tenants to remain living independent lives but with access to specialised care and support whenever they need it. In addition, the community spirit fostered in the apartment complex also provides residents with more opportunities to socialise and participate in events.
Construction started on the Milnrow project last year, on land formerly used as a car park, and despite a number of challenges thrown up by COVID-19, the scheme was completed in September to the usual high-standards of ENGIE’s site teams.
Steven Gregory, Head of New Build at ENGIE, said: “The Ladybarn development gives residents in Rochdale a new option for high-quality assisted living. The 37 apartments allow people to live independently, safe in the knowledge that care is available as and when needed. These types of projects are exciting for all involved as they are designed and built with the end-user being at the forefront of all considerations.
“Not only were we pleased to bring our construction and regeneration expertise to this development, but it’s also great to support people onto the construction career ladder. As part of this development, we partnered with a number of local colleges and schools, providing a variety of training and educational opportunities to the community.”
Michelle Rimmer and Gordon Barton, Managing Directors at Partners Foundation, said: “River Beal is our largest scheme to date and has been made possible with the support of ENGIE, Funding Affordable Homes and Homes England. Our tenants have been at the heart of this project from start to finish and the build has met all our expectations in terms of space for people to socialise, onsite café which will create job opportunities, outdoor space and has that feeling of being part of the community. We are excited to be welcoming our tenants to their new homes with the support of Future Directions.”
