ENGIE supports Work Discovery Sunderland 2020
Leading energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE will once again be supporting Sunderland’s nationally recognised careers campaign Work Discovery Sunderland 2020, by helping young people find out more about the world of construction as part of the initiative’s Construction Sector Day.
The annual event allows young people from across the city to find out more about a wide variety of jobs and career paths open to them when they leave education or training.
Taking place on Wednesday 4th March, ENGIE will join forces with Sunderland College, Gentoo and Sunderland Council in hosting numerous events for students including workshops, hands-on activities and employer talks.
Members of ENGIE staff, including Site Manager Adam Holdsworth and Building Surveyor Andrew Mayo, will conduct construction and building-related workshops for the students to take part in, whilst encouraging discussions about the construction industry and what sort of roles young people can go into.
Amy Porter, CSR Manager at ENGIE, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Work Discovery Sunderland once again. This event is a great way for young people across the City of Sunderland to explore their options and see for themselves the breadth of jobs available to them.
“As a business, we will always support young people into the construction industry. At present, we have more than 30 members of staff starting their careers at ENGIE in departments ranging from Design, to Bid Management, to on-site operatives such as plasterers, plumbers and joiners.
“We’re looking forward to working with other businesses across Wearside to support the next generation of talent into the workplace.”
