Totley Primary School
Design and build of a single storey, 2 classroom extension, to the main school together with a new two storey teaching block providing a further 4 class bases, staffroom, technology spaces and ancillary accommodation. An external works package included the creation of a new MUGA, car park and pedestrian access route.
Key Features of the Project:
- A swift process to complete design work following appointment in November 2017.
- ENGIE worked closely with the client to identify an impressive £115K of value engineering savings without impacting negatively on the quality of the teaching and learning environment.
- Work commenced on site in January 2018 with the team required to overcome exceptionally inclement weather conditions for the initial six weeks of the contract, the programme was adjusted and agreed with the school and the project completed on time and on budget in August 2018 ready for the start of the new academic year.
- The team worked very closely with the school community, engaging pupils in a design competition for site hoardings around the construction site. They also held regular liaison meetings for local residents, held an open evening for parents, assemblies for students and provided regular updates for the local press.
“I’m delighted to see the completion of the expansion at Totley Primary, which provides state of the art facilities for local children and the local area. The expansion is a key part of our work to meet the increased local demand for school places in the north-east and south-west of the city.”
Councillor Jayne Dunn,
Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Sheffield City Council
“Seeing the children take such pride in showing off their magnificent new school to parents, governors and a whole host of special visitors was such an honour. The modern learning environments which have been created by the team of designers, engineers and builders are truly inspirational and have given our children the very best facilities in which to flourish.”
Head Teacher at Totley Primary School,
This handover, in line with original parameters of programme, budget and quality was an amazing achievement and something that is a credit to all members of the ENGIE Team involved in the project Therefore I would not hesitate in recommending ENGIE to other Clients involved in similar projects.”
