Guidance on completion of the Sponsorship and Donations Form

About

First Hydro Company places high priority on its role as a patron for a wide range of initiatives that benefit local communities, sport, the arts and the environment.

First Hydro Company have contributed to many differing projects, assisting to make a success in a range of activities and projects that are generally within a 20 mile radius of our two power stations in Gwynedd.

Our areas

Some of the Areas which First Hydro Company has supported are:

  • Football and Rugby Clubs
  • Pre-school playgroups
  • Sailing clubs
  • Fell running
  • Social development and enterprise groups
  • Local community charity groups

Our commitment

First Hydro Company will spend  the sponsorship and donations budget on activities whose principal effect will be to benefit the local communities in which we operate and in the following areas:

  • Culture and Arts
  • Environmental initiatives
  • Health and Sport
  • Supporting the efforts of our staff in community based projects

The above would be in addition to supporting educational programmes such as work experience from schools and colleges, as well as Graduate student placements at our power station sites.

First Hydro Company also assists staff by providing match funding to those raising funds for local charities, whether that is running in races or holding events like quiz nights or even completing supermarket collection days for help raise such funds.

Applications

Applications should include as much detail as possible on the Sponsorship and Donations Application Form, including a breakdown of the costs involved, and/or relevant dates of events, and make reference to sustainable items, where applicable.

Please note that only fully completed Sponsorship and Donations Application Forms will be considered for assessment, which is based on one application per year.

Application Information

Application Review Process

Applications for donations, sponsorships, and staff match funding are reviewed by the Community Relations Committee, which meets monthly. To ensure timely consideration, please submit your application as early as possible.

Ineligible Requests

Unless specifically approved by the First Hydro Management Team, we do not typically provide support for the following:

Individuals
Expeditions or trips
Advertising
Salary or wage payments
Political, military, or religious organisations
National charities (unless all proceeds directly benefit the local community)
Costs related to equipment hire or labour
Non-sustainable items
Activities that are environmentally harmful or polluting
Projects that do not align with ENGIE’s ethical values and objectives

Please note:

First Hydro Company does not cover VAT costs for donations or sponsorships.

First Hydro Company cannot guarantee funding beyond the current financial year. Therefore, no commitments should be made by any club, group, or project beyond this timescale.

Follow-Up Requirements

If your request is approved, you will be required to provide:

Photographs of the funded initiative
A short-written summary of what the funding supported
