Are you able to set up an export meter?

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to do this as we are not part of any buy-back schemes. We would recommend choosing another export supplier for your contracts and requesting that they set up the export meter. If you are specifically looking for the Smart Export Guarantee scheme, the licensee is required to set up an export meter for you and we have the right to reject this request.

Are you a part of the Smart Export Guarantee scheme?

Unfortunately, we are currently not able to buy back any generation from solar panels. We are not currently offering Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for solar technologies, and we are not currently part of any buy-back schemes, such as the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) scheme (more information on the Ofgem website: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-and-social-schemes/smart-export-guarantee-seg). A list of SEG licensees from Ofgem can be found here: (https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/seg-supplier-list).

We’ve just installed solar panels. Will you buy our surplus energy?

You will only export surplus energy from solar panels if you generate more energy than you can consume, which is unlikely to happen in the winter. If you are already a FiT (Feed-in-Tariff) customer, then you will receive payments for any exported energy. The FiT scheme is closed to new applicants, and its replacement is SEG (Smart Export Guarantee), which we do not offer. More info on SEG below.

We’ve just installed solar panels. Will we see a reduction on our bills?

You will only see a reduction in your consumption if your solar panels are directly connected to your import supply meter, which should have been done by the company who installed the solar panels. There is currently no acknowledgement of this as a line item on your import supply bill, it would simply net off from the imported energy units, reducing the overall imported energy, and therefore you would be billed less than if you did not have the panels.

Can we get a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement)?

Yes, however, we are currently not offering PPAs for solar and wind technologies. You can email our Sales team at structuredcontracts@engie.com with details of the technology, contract duration, and generator capacity, and someone will contact you. You can alternatively email the Export Ops team at export@engie.com and we can pass it on to our Sales team.
