Dinorwig, first commissioned in 1984, is made up of 16km of underground tunnels, deep below Elidir mountain. Its construction required 1 million tonnes of concrete, 200,000 tonnes of cement and 4,500 tonnes of steel.

Ffestiniog Power Station was the UK’s first major pumped storage power facility. Today its four generating units are capable of achieving a combined output of 360MW of electricity – enough to supply the entire power needs of North Wales for several hours.
