Harness diverse renewable technologies to support decarbonisation

ENGIE can supply your business with energy from fully certified renewable sources – from the full range of generation technologies. As the proportion of renewable energy on the UK network increases, it’s vital that a wide range of technologies is used to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supplies to the grid. Intermittent power sources, such as wind and solar, must be balanced with baseload from more constant and reliable sources, such as biomass, energy-from-waste, biogas and other predictable generation technologies.

ENGIE sources renewable power for customers from a broad range of baseload and intermittent generators. All our renewable electricity is fully certified by UK Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) and is fully traceable – backed by EcoAct assurance.

Where does our UK renewable power come from?

Biogas

Biogas is an environmentally friendly, renewable energy source. It is produced by the breakdown of organic matter, such as food scraps and animal waste, and can be used for heating and electricity generation

Biomass

We source energy from biomass plants that burn only locally sourced waste wood and straw. Using locally sourced fuels to generate electricity supports the circular economy and minimises transport emissions.

Energy from waste (EfW)

EfW plants generate reliable baseload energy from landfill waste. UK waste that cannot be recycled or reused must go to landfill. EfW technology offers a valuable way to generate renewable power from this unavoidable waste.

Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

Combined heat and power plants are an energy-efficient technology used to generate electricity and provide thermal energy. The CHP plants we use are fuelled by biomethane to provide a net zero carbon power source.

Hydro

Hydro-electric plants harness the power of water to generate electricity. This is a reliable energy source, but can be intermittent as it depends on the amount of water in a given location.

Solar

Photovoltaic (PV) panels harness energy from the sun to generate electricity. This is an intermittent energy source as it can only generate energy when the sun shines.

Wind

Wind turbines harness the power of the wind to generate electricity. This is an intermittent energy source as it can only generate energy when the wind blows.

Our renewable products

UK Green

We supply your business with green energy sourced entirely from UK renewable energy plants. Proof of origin is provided by UK Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).

UK Green Plus

This renewable supply contract includes a fixed price renewable supply from a named UK asset, backed by REGOs. It enables you to identify the specific renewable energy plant supplying your business.

Green Select

A long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a new UK renewable asset. This supports the development of new assets and establishes a direct supply to your business. It is portable, so you can change supplier while retaining the PPA.
