Surplus to Purpose

Our CoT (Change of Tenancy) Team & I&C (Industrial & Commercial) Customer Service team recently volunteered at Surplus To Purpose, an environmental enterprise which specialises in the interception of surplus food destined for waste.

The team spent the day at Surplus to Purpose supporting them with various tasks. The team resupplied the product baskets with fruit and vegetables for customers to buy. The team helped with maintenance ensuring the floors were swept and that the fridges were clean. The team stocked tubs with herbs and walnuts and stripped down 21 pallets of goods ready to go into stock. Finally they sorted and counted a pallet of new toys which had been donated and removed any bad fruit and veg from the trays.

Surplus to Purpose is an environmental enterprise which specialises in the interception of surplus food destined for waste. They intercept edible produce from going to landfill. This produce may be past its best before date, have suffered accidental damage or deemed to be surplus to requirements.
