ENGIE Tree Planting CSR Day

As part of our ongoing commitment to CSR, 28 members of Energy Supply attended a Tree Planting activity on Barncroft Drive in Leeds. This was done in partnership with Leeds Parks and Countryside.

The aim of this activity was to support Leeds Parks & Countryside in their objectives to increase tree coverage across the Leeds area from 17% to 33% over the next 30 years. This scheme looks to reduce floor risk, support wildlife, reduce carbon and improve the local residents health and wellbeing by always being within 500 meters of wooded spaces by 2050.

The weather conditions weren’t ideal with the volunteers enduring very damp and cold conditions however the activity was a great success with the volunteers planting over 3200 new trees across the area! Leeds Parks and Countryside manage around 4,000 hectares of green space across Leeds, making the city one of the greenest places to live in Europe.
