These private networks connect back into the main DNO system but operate independently, typically serving new housing developments, industrial clusters or private estates.
Your Distribution ID can be found on your Metering Point Administration Number (MPAN). Your MPAN is detailed at the top of your bill or on your electricity meter. Below is an example of an MPAN — the Distribution ID is 10.
Look up your DNO
Once you have your Distribution ID you can find your DNO by using the look‑up table on the next page. All the DNO addresses and contact details were correct at the time of publication. In the example above, the Distribution ID is 10, so the corresponding DNO is UK Power Networks.
