Ian Peters appointed as ENGIE UK Advisory Board member

ENGIE has appointed Ian Peters to its UK Advisory Board with effect 1st September 2020.

Ian has extensive experience from a long and successful career in both financial services and energy, as well as his current portfolio of other advisory roles.

He is a former Chief Executive of British Gas and executive committee member of Centrica - having previously run both the business and residential arms of the company and being Chair of their home services entity. Ian originally joined Centrica in 2002 to turnaround the fortunes of their Goldfish Bank business, before moving to utilities within the Group. Prior to this in financial services, Ian notably led two large B2B banking divisions with NatWest.

Since 2015, Ian has worked on a portfolio of advisory roles ,he currently holds the position of Chair at Barts Health NHS Trust and Vice-chair of the Peabody housing association. Ian also holds advisory roles with several  start-up businesses which all have in common the aim to create transformational change through technology. They encompass areas including smart grids, data analytics and monitoring services for both energy and local authority markets. 

ENGIE’s UK Advisory Board brings together high calibre, diverse and relevant experience to support the continued successful development of the UK business. Its members are selected to provide ENGIE with expert insight in areas that support its strategy of making the transition to zero carbon happen for businesses and local authorities across the country.

ENGIE’s UK Advisory Board is chaired by Franck Bruel, Executive Vice-President of ENGIE, and includes Lord Kerslake, former Head of the Civil Service and recent President of the Local Government Association. Joan MacNaughton, Chair of The Climate Group and previously Director General of Energy for the UK. Jacqui Ferguson, former CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services (UK, Ireland, and EMEA) and an advisory member of Scottish Government’s gender equality council.
